Orson Welles once said that the reason for his confidence in directing Citizen Kane was “Ignorance…pure ignorance. There is no confidence to equal it. It’s only when you know something about a profession that you are timid or careful.”  That’s been the story of my artistic career, for the most part. 

Sure, there were years of study, decades of practice at honing my craft. I’m not discounting that. But I’ve never not thought I could branch out into the different facets of writing and music that I’ve done. I just stumbled headfirst into them, hitting each one with a whack-a-mole-sized hammer until I’ve been happy with what I’ve got. All I know is that I have a driving force for creation, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
